The Kite Runner

I bought this book about three weeks ago, before my exam.

It'd been a while since I bought a book and read it immediately.

I read half of the first chapter the day I bought it, sitting in Starbucks.

The rest I read last night. Like literally the whole book. I was up until 4am. :P

I always get attracted to these kind of books. The ones with religion and ethnic issues involved, I mean. Maybe it's because I like to analyze things and find out more about them.

I live in a country where religion is considered a sensitive topic, therefore, I turn to these kind of books, to learn more about the point of views of others and see how others see religion, all without alerting the ISA.

Anyway, the story, for me, is rather tragic.

There were parts where I literally gasped and covered my mouth with my hands in disbelief. Yes, that's how powerful the storyline is. Many books have made me laugh in the past, but I can strongly say that they have never made me curse out loud while reading.

I wish there was more to the book, not a sequel, just more. For instance, I'd like to understand more about what Sohrab was thinking and feeling when he was brought to America by Amir. I'd like to understand the reason of his deafening silence.

But maybe that was how it was supposed to be; leave the readers hanging and wondering, wanting more

I'm not one to understand about politics and war, but Afghanistan is now on the list of countries, behind Bosnia, I want to visit, and maybe help.

The book has made me feel like writing again, but I feel that I can never write like how these people do. I know too little of the world.

Maybe when I'm older and hopefully wiser.

PS: I did not buy this version of the cover of the book. I bought the movie cover. It's nice, but I'd rather have the original one.

PPS: I want to buy more books!

PPPS: The reason I started blogging again is coz Mary influenced me too. I just wanna state that clearly here, in case she goes on a rampage and gossips about me to other. :3

PPPPS: I think I like my movie cover version better now.

Teehee.
