I've been spending all my time just thinking 'bout you, I don't know what to do, I think I'm fallin' for you. :)
Cendol (pronounced [tʃɛndɒl]) is a traditional dessert originating from South East Asia, which are still popular in Indonesia , Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Southern Thailand (where it is called lortchorng singapore ลอดช่องสิงคโปร์). The dessert's basic ingredients consist of coconut milk, noodles with green food coloring (usually derived from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar.
CENDOL!
Ahahaha. I have fallen in love with this Malaysia treat, even if it didn't really come from here.
3 weeks ago, when I had my first cendol, I could not recall the last time I had this drink.
It was bought from a roadside stall on the way to my house. My dad always stops by there to buy drinks for his workers and customers so I thought that I'd have one too.
It was so refreshing in this hot weather! Oh btw, I spilled about 3/4 of it on the floor at home.
I left it on the table in between the tissue box and my grandpa's medicine box while I went to get a spoon. I thought that it was safe. Boy, was I wrong. Seconds later, even before I could reach the drawer for the spoon, I heard a loud splash. D:
THERE WAS CENDOL EVERYWHERE!!!
But no worries, there was a quarter left and I told the maid to clean it up. ;)
Today I had my 3rd cendol in 3 weeks, because of the hot weather, it was perfect.
And no, I didn't spill it again.
Drinking it from the enlarged plastic straw was a satisfying feeling.
It's tiny things like this that make me feel proud to live in a country with so many different cultures and we are not restricted to try every single one of them in any aspect.
Whether it's clothes, food or drinks, we have a chance to experiece traditional culture of every race in Malaysia.
:)
Wow, that was good. xD
